DSWD Lingap Center – Home For Girls

• Located in San Vicente, Tarlac City, is a transitional home for abandoned female children ages from 7- 17.
• The set- up of this particular sheltered workshop has been adopted with the methodology in the Netherlands. This is created for people with physical and/or mental impairments but highly trainable. A few women have been selected by the DSWD to be included in the program. The ideal goal is for them to be able to live independently in the future through the skills that they will learn from the program.
• In the workshop they are taught of basic handicraft like beading and sewing. Together with our partner company, Far East Furniture, we have donated sewing machines, tools and remains of the company like genuine leathers and high quality fabrics. We also provide designs of products where their ability is being taken in consideration. They are making bags, wallets, bracelets, pillows and others. Far East Furniture is also the entity that helps market and sells their products. We are so proud that their work has been appreciated by a lot of people not only locally but internationally. All profits made out of this project are either given to them as salary, for their needs or for the enhancement of the project. Each of them has their own bank account where they put their earnings and buy things for themselves. This makes them feel they are living a normal life like others and gives them confidence.
• For a start, they are living outside of the center, wherein they are slowly being taught to take care of themselves with the supervision of a house parent. The Foundation pays the monthly rent, electricity and water bill of their apartment.
